Ahmed El-Kosheri (1932 -2019)

With great sadness, ICCA marks the passing of ICCA Advisory Board Member Ahmed El-Kosheri on 18 March 2019. With him, the international arbitration community loses a true arbitration legend, a pioneer in his region of the world and internationally.

Ahmed served on the ICCA Governing Board from 1987 to 2010 and has served on the ICCA Advisory Board since then. He was a Senior Partner at Kosheri, Rashed & Riad Law Firm in Cairo and served as President and Professor of International Economic Law at International University for African Development or Université Senghor until 2003. Among many other positions, Ahmed was also an ad hoc judge at the International Court of Justice, Vice-President of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Court of Arbitration, and a Member of the Redesign Panel on the UN system of Administration of Justice.

ICCA President Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler paid tribute on behalf of ICCA, saying "We will remember him as a dear friend and colleague and express our heartfelt sympathy to his family."
