ICCA welcomes President Donald Donovan

Today, ICCA welcomes Donald Francis Donovan as he takes office as ICCA President, succeeding Albert Jan van den Berg.

Mr. Donovan is Co-Head of the International Disputes Group at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP and serves as counsel in international disputes before courts in the United States, international arbitration tribunals, and international courts. He has long been regarded as one of the leading arbitrators and arbitration practitioners in the world. Mr. Donovan teaches International Arbitration and International Investment Law and Arbitration at the New York University School of Law, and he previously served as President of the American Society of International Law and as Chair of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration.

Mr. Donovan has been a member of the ICCA Governing Board (formerly the ICCA Council) since 1998 and has served as Vice-President of ICCA, head of its Foundation Committee, and Chair of the Programme Committees for the ICCA Congresses in Montreal in 2006 and Dublin in 2008. Mr. Donovan’s full profile can be viewed on the ICCA website.

ICCA expresses its great thanks to outgoing ICCA President Albert Jan van den Berg for his many years of service to ICCA, as General Editor of the ICCA Yearbook since 1986, a member of the ICCA Governing Board since 1990 and most recently as ICCA President. Professor van den Berg has presided over a transformative and transitional moment in ICCA’s history, working towards the goals expressed in his May 2014 Vision for ICCA.
