Wendy Miles on how Climate Change in Arbitration will be addressed at the 2018 ICCA Congress in Sydney

In June 2016, Wendy Miles QC, member of ICCA’s Programme Committee for the 2018 ICCA Sydney Congress, delivered the fourth annual Proskauer Lecture on International Arbitration, "New Challenges for International Dispute Resolution in an Era of Climate Change.” The lecture was greeted with enthusiasm and described by Professor George Bermann of Columbia Law School as “a truly inspiring call to arms".

For the benefit of those who were not in the audience that day, ICCA invited Wendy to discuss on video some of the key points of her lecture with Judith Levine, Senior Legal Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague and visiting lecturer on climate law disputes at King’s College London.

We bring you a teaser of the full conversation, highlighting the 2018 ICCA Congress programme and why the topic of Climate Change in Arbitration is so relevant to the Congress and its host country Australia.

(The video was taped on 7 October 2016 in the London office of Boies, Schiller & Flexner where Wendy Miles is partner and global head of arbitration. Watch this space for full film footage.)
