Tartan, Projects and Enlightenment Await at #ICCA2020Edinburgh

While the bagpipes were largely absent, ICCA tartan and ICCA kilts were in abundance at an event hosted by ICCA and the Scottish Arbitration Centre in New York on Tuesday 5 February to preview ICCA’s 25th Congress in Edinburgh scheduled for 10-13 May 2020.

New Yorkers and visitors to New York were treated to a preview of #ICCA2020 by Chair of the Scottish Arbitration Centre, Brandon Malone, who took guests through the spectacular historical locations, mixed tradition legal culture and leisure activities on offer in Edinburgh (noting in an aside that as Scotland had invented both golf and whiskey, both would be on offer on the fringes of the Congress). ICCA Executive Director Lise Bosman introduced guests (including many regular ICCA Congress attendees) to news about recent ICCA projects (including those on Cybersecurity, Data Protection, ISDS and Damages). Noting that ICCA’s renewed project activity now created a working dimension to ICCA’s Congresses, she outlined the multiple opportunities for ICCA members to contribute critically or reflectively to the field through ICCA’s projects. ICCA Governing Board and Edinburgh Programme Committee member Jean Kalicki then provided a fresh-off-the-press overview of programme panels in development around the theme of “Arbitration’s Age of Enlightenment”, before guests mingled, enjoying the generous hospitality of King & Spalding and the Scottish Bar Association of New York.

Registration for ICCA2020Edinburgh is now open: icca2020.scot/register/.
