Catherine Amirfar is Co-Chair of the International Disputes Resolution and Public International Law Groups at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP and sits as a member of the Firm’s Management Committee. She is the immediate Past President of the American Society of International Law (ASIL), the pre-eminent learned society in the United States dedicated to international law. With over twenty years of experience, Ms. Amirfar is recognized as a top practitioner in international disputes globally. Her practice focuses on international commercial and treaty arbitration, international litigation and public international law. She regularly appears in U.S. courts and before international courts and arbitration tribunals, including the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Ms. Amirfar serves as a Member of the U.S. Department of State’s Advisory Committee on International Law, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Advisory Committees of the American Law Institute for the Restatement (Fourth) of Foreign Relations Law of the United States and for the Restatement of the U.S. Law of International Commercial Arbitration. Gourab was designated a Senior Advocate in 2003 and specialises in arbitration and commercial litigation. He read law at Cambridge University, graduating with First Class Honours, and was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 1990. He was appointed Additional Solicitor General of India in 2009.

He acts as an arbitrator in domestic and international commercial arbitrations, as well as investment treaty-arbitrations. He has served as a co-arbitrator, as well as the Presiding Arbitrator of multi-member tribunals, administered under rules of ICSID, ICC, LCIA and SIAC, among others.

He is a member of the Expert Group on the Future Development of the Permanent Court of Arbitration. He is also the President of the Arbitration Bar of India, and the Chairman of the UNCITRAL National Coordination Committee for India.

Chiann Bao is a Chartered arbitrator and CEDR-Accredited mediator. Tri-qualified in New York, England and Wales and Hong Kong, she has been appointed in nearly 100 ad hoc and institutional arbitrations totalling several USD billions in dispute. She is the Co-Chair of the IBA Arbitration Committee and has held institutional leadership positions including as a vice president of the ICC Court of Arbitration and as Secretary General of the HKIAC. Chiann has practiced in international law firms in New York and Hong Kong. She is one of the most highly ranked arbitrators in publications such as Who's Who Legal Arbitration's Global Elite Thought Leaders and Chambers and Partners' Most in Demand arbitrators (globally and regionally). A regular speaker and lecturer, Chiann was awarded the GAR "best lecture" for her Proskauer Rose lecture in 2022.
