Hon Paul Heath KC was called to the New Zealand Bar in 1978 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1998. In March 2002, after serving for five years as a consultant (two years) and member (three years) of the New Zealand Law Commission, Paul was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of New Zealand. Between 2003 and 2017, he sat as an ad hoc member of the Court of Appeal on numerous occasions, on both the Civil Appeal Division and Criminal Appeal Division. Paul was also a Commercial List Judge and a member of the Commercial Panel of the High Court when he retired from the Bench in April 2018. Dr. Gerold Herrmann was President of ICCA from 2002 until 2010. Until his retirement in 2001 he worked for 26 years for UNCITRAL (United Nations Commission on International Trade Law), the last ten years thereof as its Director. His major achievement was the elaboration and promulgation of the UNCITRAL Model Law and the concomitant assistance in establishing or internationalising arbitration centres all over the world. Dr. Herrmann is Honorary Professor of Vienna University, Honorary Vice President of the LCIA Court and former President of the LCIA Court. In 2001 INSOL International presented to him the Scroll of Honour and the International Insolvency Institute honoured him in 2006 with the Outstanding Contributions Award.
