Hosting an ICCA Congress

Bids are usually received to host an ICCA Congress four years in advance of the event.

Anyone interested in hosting a future ICCA Congress may contact the ICCA Bureau to obtain the Guidelines.


ICCA's biennially held Congresses attract a large number of participants from across the globe and have made significant contributions to the development of dispute resolution theory and practice. Renowned for stimulating in-depth discussion and providing new insights on matters related to international arbitration, the ICCA Congress is the largest regular conference devoted to international arbitration and caters to both newcomers and experts in the arbitration community. 

Upcoming ICCA Congresses and Conferences

The XXIVth ICCA Congress will take place in Sydney, Australia from 15-18 April 2018. 

The 2018 Congress in Sydney will focus on the theme: “Evolution and Adaptation: The Future of International Arbitration”.

The AMINZ-ICCA International Arbitration Day in Queenstown, New Zealand is the official add-on event to the Sydney ICCA 2018 Congress.

The two-day conference is designed to complement delegate's learning in Sydney, network and have a working holiday in New Zealand. The programme planning is led by working group chair Sir David A R Williams QC.  Other members of the working group are Dr Petra Butler, Simon Foote, James Hosking, Derek Johnston, Daniel Kalderimis, Paul Key, QC, Wendy Miles, QC, Audley Sheppard, QC, Joe Smouha, QC and  John Walton.

The XXVth ICCA Congress will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland from 10-13 May 2020.
