The ICCA Panel of Experts holds Legal Roundtable at Climate Law and Governance Day (CLGD 2025)

On 14 November 2025, ICCA co-hosted a roundtable on “Adjudicating Climate Disputes in a New Era – Implementation and Conciliation” during Climate Law and Governance Day 2025 held in conjunction with COP30.  The roundtable explored the evolving landscape of climate change–related disputes in light of recent advisory opinions and their implications for international dispute settlement.

Participants also discussed the role of conciliation—the default mechanism for most States under the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement—in resolving such disputes, and considered how different forms of dispute settlement may assist in addressing matters related to climate reparations.

A recording of the roundtable can be accessed here.  Panelists included ICCA Panel of Experts Co-chair Catherine Amirfar and Panel of Experts member Nicola Swan.
