Professor Bernini became a member of ICCA in 1973 and participated actively in its activities inter alia as rapporteur at the New Delhi Congress 1975, member of the Working Group on Arbitration Practice at the New York Congress 1986, rapporteur at the Bologna Conference on The Authority of Arbitrators 1987, author of the Synthesis Report at the Tokyo Conference 1988, rapporteur on ICCA’s Activities in 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, author of the National Report Italy 1981 (updating 1988).

Former Minister of Foreign Trade and Member of Parliament; Former Member of the Italian Antitrust Authority; Professor at the University of Bologna, Chair of Arbitration and International Commercial Law; President, Association for the Teaching and Study of Arbitration and International Trade Law (AISA); Member of the Executive Committee, Italian Arbitration Association; Senior Partner, Studio Bernini e Associati.


Awards, Nominations and Special roles

Awarded by the President of the Italian Republic the Honours of Cavalier of Great Cross for high services rendered to the State; Awardedthe Dean’s Medal by the New York Law School for outstanding contribution to legal scholarship, practice and to the cause of international and comparative law.

Public Service: Minister of Foreign Trade; Member of the Italian Parliament.
