General bio

Tan Sri Dato’ Cecil Abraham is Senior Partner at Cecil Abraham & Partners in Kuala Lumpur.

Dato’ Abraham received an LLB (Hons) from Queen Mary College, University of London.  He was called to the English Bar by the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in 1969.  He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaysia in 1970.  He was elected a fellow of Queen Mary and Westfield College in 1990. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators.  He is a chartered arbitrator and a mediator. He is a member of the Advisory Council of Singapore International Arbitration Centre and Advisory Panel of the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration. He is a past member of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). He was the past vice-chair of Committee D of the International Bar Association (IBA). He was the past chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (1996/1998). He was past president of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) (1997/1998) and was also the past chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), Malaysia Branch  (2002/2003). He is on the panel of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA). He is a founding member of the International Maritime Conciliation & Mediation Panel (IMCM) and was the past vice president of the Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG). He was the past deputy president of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (MIArb).
