Matthew Morantz Elected as Young ICCA Co-Chair

We are pleased to announce that New York-based Canadian national Matthew Morantz has been elected as the next Young ICCA Co-Chair.

Matthew greeted the news of his election with enthusiasm, saying “I’m truly grateful for all the support and trust that’s been placed in me. Young ICCA’s mission is to open the doors of international arbitration, and I’m excited to get to work on advancing that goal over the next two years with our global network of 7,500 members.”

Matthew will serve as Co-Chair alongside Panagiotis Chalkias and Theominique Nottage, whose terms end in January 2021 and August 2021 respectively.

The two candidates up for election were Matthew and Philip Kim. We’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate both Matthew and Philip on being the top two candidates and to thank them for participating in this year’s elections.

Matthew will take office immediately, succeeding current Co-Chair Camilla Gambarini. Camilla has been an asset to the Young ICCA community over the past two years, particularly through her involvement in launching the Young ICCA Webinar Series as an alternative to skills training workshops in the wake of COVID-19. We thank Camilla for her dedication to the organisation and wish her well in all her future endeavours.

The rest of 2020 promises to be as busy and productive as ever for Young ICCA. We encourage all of our members to register for webinars in the Young ICCA Webinar Series, which has already featured sessions with renowned arbitrators Prof. Albert Jan van den Berg and ICCA President Lucy Reed. Check out our events page for details of upcoming webinars.

In addition, should you be interested in participating in the Young ICCA Mentoring Programme, keep an eye out for announcements about the upcoming 8th Cycle later this year.
