Professor Orrego-Vicuña is professor of law at the University of Chile and has been the co-director of the Joint LL. M. Program with the University of Heidelberg, which specializes in international law, international trade, investment and arbitration. Has been a member of the Court of the LCIA and its Vice President. He is an arbitrator at 20 Essex Street Chambers in London. Has been the President of numerous arbitration tribunals in ICSID, the ICC, NAFTA and Ad-hoc arbitration as well as a judge and former President of the World Bank Administrative Tribunal. Has also been a member of a dispute settlement panel in the World Trade Organization. He has extensively published in international dispute settlement and other central questions of international law.
Professor Orrego-Vicuña has been a visiting professor of the University of Paris II, Stanford University and the University of Miami. He holds a PH. D. degree in international law from the University of London (London School of Economics and Political Science). Has been recognized by the Chilean Government with the National Award on Social Sciences and the Humanities and also by the award of the Medal of Merit of the University of Heidelberg.
