Young ICCA Skills Training Workshop on Cross-examination in International Arbitration

The topic of the workshop is “Cross-Examination in International Arbitration”. It will include presentations by experienced practitioners on best practices for conducting cross-examinations in international arbitration and a practical cross-examination exercise, during which the participants will be able to test their cross-examination skills and play the role of the arbitral tribunal.

The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Haris (Ch.) Pamboukis, Founding Partner in PMN Law Firm, Professor at the Athens Law School and Former Minister of State (Athens) and the closing remarks by Mr. Epaminontas Triantafilou, Partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP (London). The faculty will also include:

Additional information: Accommodation for 20 Young ICCA members residing outside of Athens will be provided (ten twin bedrooms to be shared in a central hotel for the night of 28 June 2018). Please indicate in your application whether you would like to apply for accommodation.

Lunch will be provided between the morning panel session and the afternoon mock exercise and a cocktail reception will be held after the event.

Application and registration: There are 45 spots available and 20 of them are reserved for Young ICCA members. Participants will generally be confirmed on a first come first served basis.

To apply, please send a short email captioned “Young ICCA Athens Workshop” stating your interest along with a resume to yiccaathens2018@youngicca.org, and indicate whether you are interested in playing the role of the cross-examiner or the arbitral tribunal during the afternoon mock exercise. Please kindly note in this regard that we may not be able to accommodate all requests to actively participate in the cross-examination sessions, but other active roles, such as preparing the cross-examination and drafting the cross-examination script, will be available.

All participants are expected to bear their costs of transportation to, from and within Athens, as well as incidental expenses. They are further responsible for any necessary visa arrangements.
