Young ICCA Skills Training Workshop on
Cross-examination in international arbitration

We are pleased to invite you to attend a Young ICCA Skills Training Workshop that will be held on 10 November 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The topic of the workshop is “Cross-Examination in International Arbitration”. It will consist in presentations on the basics of cross-examination by experienced practitioners and in a practical cross-examination exercise, during which the participants will be able to test their skills on the conduct of cross-examination in international arbitration, both from the parties’ and the arbitral tribunal’s perspective.

The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Dr. Kaj Hobér, Uppsala University, Sweden, and 3 Verulam Buildings, London and the closing remarks by Mr. Robin Oldenstam, Partner, Mannheimer Swartling, Stockholm. The faculty will further include:

Additional information: Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, we will provide accommodation for 20 of our members residing outside of Stockholm in a central hotel for the night of 9 November 2017 (ten twin bedrooms to be shared). Please indicate in your application whether you would like to apply for accommodation. Moreover, lunch will be served between the morning panel session and the afternoon mock exercise and a cocktail reception will be held after the end of the event at the premises of Hannes Snellman (Kungsträdsgårdsgatan 20, 111 47 Stockholm, Sweden).

Application and registration: There are 45 spots available, and 20 are reserved for Young ICCA members to attend the event. Participants will generally be confirmed on a first come first served basis.

To apply, please send a short email captioned “Young ICCA Stockholm Workshop” stating your interest along with a resume to, and indicate whether you are interested in performing a cross-examination or acting as an arbitral tribunal member during the afternoon session. Please kindly note in this regard that we may not be able to accommodate all requests to do the cross-examination or play the role of the arbitral tribunal, but that other active roles, such as drafting the cross-examination script and performing re-direct examination, will be available.

All participants are expected to bear their costs of transportation to, from and within Stockholm, as well as incidental expenses. They are further responsible for any necessary visa arrangements.
