Commencing international arbitrations – trouble shooting pathological clauses and other problems

Young ICCA is pleased to invite you to attend a Young ICCA International Arbitration Skills Workshop which will take place in Sydney on Friday, 14 November 2014.

The seminar is hosted by Young ICCA in co-operation with the CIArb Young Members International Arbitration Forum (CIArb YMIAF), the Asia-Pacific Forum for International Arbitration (AFIA) and the ICC Young Arbitrator’s Forum, and with the kind support of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration and the Australian International Disputes Centre.

This free of charge event is a collaboration between Young ICCA, Asia-Pacific Forum for International Arbitration, the CIArb Young Members and ICC YAF and will provide younger practitioners with a hands-on opportunity to develop practical skills in international arbitration.

The topic of this year's workshop, which will be led by an international faculty of highly experienced younger arbitration practitioners, is "Commencing international arbitrations – trouble shooting pathological clauses and other problems". The faculty will guide participants through a number of real-life inspired case studies of problematic scenarios that can be encountered in commencing arbitration proceedings, as well as potential strategies for dealing with them (the case studies will be circulated to participants in advance of the event).

Since Young ICCA was established in 2010, Young ICCA International Arbitration Skills Workshops have been conducted around the world (for more information see This will be the second workshop held in Australia and follows the success of the inaugural workshop held in Sydney last year.
